I just watched the Martin Short episode of CICGC and he has a Euro 300TD. It was funny but h e introduces the car as a 6cyl... it’s a 5?? Jerry what happened? As far as I know the 6 didn’t come until the next generation of diesels in the boxy cars.
That’s all I came here to say, gripe over.

When someone can’t count cylinders

Indeed, the diesel was a 5, the gas a 6. Oh well. You have to think that's on the producer feeding him the info. I doubt he's sticking his head under the hood of every loaner they receive.

You are correct. All 4 or 5 cylinder diesels in the U.S. in the W123. Almost all W123s are diesel here except some oddball rare, early 280 CE I believe.
And all are slow, except the turbo 5 cylinder. That one is merely adequate. lol

I have an 83' 300D, I guess he just thinks about the petrol engine and assumes they are all 6. He is such a car guy that I was a little surprised.

Oddly enough, the limey authorities who issued that plate state it wasn’t registered until 2014, and expired in 2015. Per them, it is a 1982 model.
